So, inspired after the first time that I walked across fire, that I stepped even further into the coals by stepping into the center ring to recite a poem about it. Another first. And, I had been anxiously awaiting the day when I would work up the courage to speak in front of a crowd comprised of my dearest friends.

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse @ 11° Leo

On its own a Full Moon is a time of culmination. Look back six months to see what seeds were planted in the heat of Summer. When the Earth stands between the Sun and Moon, even for a moment– the heat rises, and the situation at hand may reach a boiling point instead.

The point of a crisis, is to get us to look at it. “Emerge and see.” Do you catch me?

Of course as we ride the Leo/Aquarius Axis, that of self & others.

We may be the one’s crying out for attention. Consciously or otherwise.

This Lunar Eclipse, flips the switch. Yesterday’s State of the Union Address may have us in the mindset that it is the duty of the collective to care for the individual. However, as the skies light up Leo, we must remember to “ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”

Really, let’s drive it home too. What are your own highly individual special skills that could be of great benefit to the collective? Now is the time and this is the hour, to bring that forward.

We have some lovely Feminine Astroids hanging out on either side of this lunation. Ceres, is the Earth Mama who rules over fertility, mothering and she loves to get down on some cooking. She’s staying close to the Moon and the North Node (the direction that our compass is pointing).

This triplet is calling us to step forward as the Lioness, a badass who will pounce and go to town, in order to protect her creations while the man with the golden mane lies around lazily, in the sunshine.

On the opposite side, in Aquarius we have Venus, Juno & the Sun. Together they are blessing us with a detached perspective so that we may officially say goodbye to the old loves, former values, and story titles that read “I’m not good enough” because these things are no longer serving the Glory Be, who we are to become.

Shake it off, let it go, and detach, detach, detach. In two weeks the New Moon will be here to open new doors to us. And, that requires the full capacity of our imagination! 

A lunation is a time stamp. Also considered one of God’s footprint’s. The things that are meant to come up for us, don’t necessarily have to take place at the exact moment on the exact day. The chart however, does serve as a guide for the things that will play out in our lives for the the next two to four weeks. And, even up to six months, given that this is an eclipse.

Horoscopes

Leo: What does it feel like to have the Earth stand in-between you and your dreams? We’re all looking forward to what it is you are cooking up. But right now, it’s your own very self that’s being given the once over.

Virgo: The true spotlight is on you, Virgo. Selfless Service is the wave of the future & the new mark of royalty in the Heavens. Be sure to take care of yourself first. You are good to no one, if you’re not first a true care-taker to your own needs. Now is the time to listen to your dreams.

Libra: The Group has got the goods to get your great idea off the ground. Jump in! Community may not be one of the key things we think of with a Libra, but it certainly holds the keys to your creativity.

Scorpio: Your leadership qualities are getting a major boost. How is the public perceiving you? Check-in at home first. And, see if there are any ghosts that you can simply sweep away, before you head out on your journey.

Sagittarius: My, my things really are turning out just as your heart’s desire. It possible that you may have to let go of some trusty neighbors, or perhaps an old mode of thinking in order for you to travel on further.

Capricorn: Serious transformations are brewing, and it’s likely that you can keep some in your pocket. Either that or there’s a new romp in town and you are all up on it!

Aquarius: You are so good at not even needing the spotlight, but how do you feel now that your partnerships are calling for your attention? As the Zodiac’s star solo show, is there a way to increase your already strong net worth by sharing?  

Pisces: The real world is calling and it’s time to take those dreams and to turn them into deliberate plans for action. How can your imagination be of service to how you spend your days at work?

Aries: Well, aren’t you the lucky one? It’s not as if you haven’t worked for it. So, what’s coming up now should feel pretty deserving. The ripples and shakes of clearing the decks is nearing an end. Now is the time to build a life to your heart’s content.

Mars in Sagittarius: January 26th-March 17th 2018

Grab your towels, and get dressed we’ve officially stepped out of the Mars in Scorpio steam bath, and are  about to take a ride in a hot air balloon. Mars, the hot-blooded muscle man of the Zodiac has just plowed into the sky’s the limit Sign of Sagittarius.  

Mars in Sagittarius is ultra-independent, optimistic, and confident. With Mars in this Sign, when the going gets tough, we might even just take off in the opposite direction. 

Far and away from anything that will cause us pain. Unlike Scorpio, super smiley Sagittarius, does not have a shadow.

Physical activity is accentuated. Now is the time to tone-up those thighs!! Stair step it up, or go for a run.  Maybe try out some squat thrusts. : ) 

Mars on his own, is the energy that makes it happen. He is our drive, our force and our carnal desire.   

He is the flow of our blood-stream. He needs ample direction and a true dedication to discipline.

When he’s not given his due attention, he’ll blow up in anger at his closest friends and neighbors. 

Jupiter, is the Ruler of Sagittarius. He is the biggest planet we have! He brings blessings of abundance and promotes expansion. 

Pair the two together and we have just added rocket fuel to cupid’s arrow. Plenty of potentials are likely to be presented to us.  

The trick is to FOCUS and to be sure to Follow Through.

Over the next month and a half we may find ourselves seeking out some adventure travel. Exploring uncharted territories, being inundated by things that are foreign to us. 

Maybe even enjoying a strangely placed liaison, or ten, if Jupiter has anything to say about it. 

True across the board, is that where ever Mars is currently transiting, is where we’d NEED to be independent.

Capricorn: Get out your dream journal, and set your alarm at least an hour ahead of when you have to wake up, because now is the time to connect to your subconscious. Also, watch out for all of that stuff you tried to suppress because it’s going to pop up on the surface.  

Aquarius: Community action oriented! It’s time to get your group project on. Got an idea that needs promotion, go for it. Have an idea that needs to come to fruition, dedicate the next month to making it happen. And, see what you can do about being a “Humanitarian.” 

Pisces: The downfall of this transit is that you might just piss off all of the people in power. The bright side is that there’s definitely a spot light on you. And, if you can align your independent goals with those who are already in authority, then now is the time to take the next step up that ol’ ladder. 

Aries: Self-promote your little heart out! Be wary of speculative endeavors. Course loads may increase. And, you might just be flying by the seat of your pants to some far distant lands. 

Taurus: Put on your transformation shoes, it’s time to shake some baggage loose! Things could get pretty saucy in the bedroom. Also, now is the time to go out and secure some new income streams. 

Gemini: Swipe right, Gemini! Potential partners could come swarming in. Of course, it’s good to do your part. The conversations could get heated with those you’re already close with. 

Cancer: Strike gold on your own! Now’s the time to take on that independent work load. Check your passive aggression at the door, and DO NOT bring it to the water cooler. This is a great time to have surgery, if need be. 

Leo: It’s your time to shine Leo, boldly go where no Leo has gone before. You might be at home in the spotlight, now is the time to let your creations really shine. It also might just be hanky panky time.

ABOUT THE EVENT:

Astrology is a symbolic language. Symbols are the language of the subconscious.

As Jupiter, the planetary amplifier stepped into the sign of Scorpio —house of the subconscious and that which we keep repressed — up popped the#MeToo Movement.

The Shadow reveals itself in order to be healed.

Jupiter’s transit through Scorpio is a thirteen month journey, which began in October of 2017 and will end in November 2018.
In this workshop we will take a look at current events from the archetypal, mythical perspective that Astrology offers. 

You are encouraged to bring your own chart. Once we’ve honed in on the Astrological Basics (no prior knowledge required), and each develop an understanding as to how this transit is unfolding in our lives, we will dive into a shamanic form of meditation to see what is ready to surface.

Then, with consent, we’ll bring our findings back to the table for group discussion.

Finally, everyone will be given a narrative medicine prescription so that we may write it out of our bodies, entirely.

The Morning After

Off in the distance, two women with exceptional hats, danced along with the waves as they rushed, onto the shore.

That it was winter, seemed to be no matter.

Max, watched them and imagined, about the time that they were having. This she did, as she walked along with and a tall, well-mannered man, through the park.

He had come to visit her the night before.

Much of their time together was spent in the dark.

Now just after dawn, it was time for this man to depart.

Silence joined them in their walk.

Like a snake, he slithered in between them, and even managed to wrap itself tightly around each of their throats. Here, it made itself at home.

The constriction strangled Max.

Is this, perhaps your typical “morning after?” She wondered. Even so, this lack of conversation is rather awkward!

Silence spoke up and pointed out the perils that lay before them.

It was no use. She’d rather look at her shoes.

Her heart did jumping jacks. Her mind ran wild with potential. Now that she’d gone this far, there was no turning back.

Try as she might, her words drew only blanks.

How she wished to feel as light & airy as those women in loud, obnoxious hats. She did her best to concentrate on their dance.

Then, as the winds picked, Solace, swept through with a vision.

From the depths of her being, she felt inner strength. Inside her own mind, she heard her own words ring out. She heard her Truth spoken clearly, with courage.

This helped her heart to settle again and, happily it sank back into its rightful place.

This inner knowing stretched a smile across her face. Then again the wind returned, and blew it all away.

What called to her now, were those women.

Quite actually, they called her by name! Happy to greet her and this tall handsome stranger, with gleeful waves they called them both to come over.

The cold air was no match for the heater that Max felt herself enter. Max prayed for the women to not notice that which lay upon her companions left handed finger.

They all exchanged pleasantries and polite introductions.

For the first time all morning, Max felt at ease. Comforted so much that she was even compelled to continue on in conversation.

Though her companion was quick to remind her, that there was no reason to stay here.

He’s right. She thought.

It’s time to move on.

On Astrology

According to Alan Watts “the body is in the soul” & ThisThor would agree. Before ever even diving into Astrology it was clear that there were facets of my personality which were wholly unique to me.

Now, having been submerged in the subject for nearly a decade, my feelings towards the matter have only grown deeper. I see that there are higher octaves and lower octaves for each and every aspect that life presents to us. And, having practiced living from this perspective, am no longer living in fear of that which might occur.

“Negative experiences” present us with great opportunity, by setting the stage for us to step up to the plate. Every hero has its journey. And, sometimes tragedy is just the ticket to help us understand our selves and our present situation more clearly.

My name is CARLY!! And, I am ready to own up to what it means to be, an Astrologer.

Strength Building: Intuition

On a January Saturday afternoon, Carlesbad stood in her room, wondering what to do–

Drawing a total blank, she vowed not to waste the day, so she put on her coat and stepped out of the house. Equipped for utility, she brought her keys & wallet only. Off she went! Sauntering through the flamboyantly colorful streets of her predominately Mexican, though undergoing gentrification, Chicago neighborhood.

Her saunter led her to stand at the front door of a new café situated just beneath the L train.

She stood there for a moment, considering if it was her destiny to step inside.

Having no where else to turn in mind, Carlesbad opened the door, stepped up to the counter, smiled at the barista then ordered up a delicious chai.

She made her way to a bar stool by the window, where she took her seat. Sitting quietly, sipping her drink. Gazing out upon the activity, of the colorful city streets.

From a quiet perspective, it is easy to listen, and to pay attention, to the conversations that the rest of the room is engaging in.

She was rather enjoying this meditation–

When Super South Side George rolled in. He was boasting!

About his new bar, that he’d just bought up that morning, up north, in Bucktown. 

The window gazing silent sitter felt the room hush as an audience formed to listen intently to George’s story.

He was already the proud owner of the local pub across the street. Aware of his surroundings, George made it clear, that it was a safe place for single women to come have a solitary seat.

Like a cat, Carlesbad alertly sat, patiently waiting for her moment to pounce.

George paid for his bagel sandwich with cash. Then he stood, silently, waiting  by the register for the rest of his order.

Quick! Make your move before he gets out the door.

Personal approaches are best executed from the front. The other person has a better chance of hearing your voice when meeting face to face. Chasing this man, calling to gain his attention while his back is turned, would be a poor start.

Hi George! May I speak with you a moment?

Stunned, George stated back at her with what appeared to be fear. Reading his inclination to turn & run, Carlesbad again spoke up.

Oh no! She responded to his demeanor. Please, allow me to explain. I am a Firewalking Instructor, pointing to her pin.  Glasswalking is also an offering, it’s been on my mind to be in touch with you.

His heart clearly melted and a smile beamed across his face. Oh! Glass, he said in his thick south side of Chicago accent, Ya! We’ve got plenty of that.  Across the street- at my bar, Bottles & Cans. Drop off a container. I’d be happy to help you to collect bottles of glass. 

Nice! How easy was that.

Thank you!! she said. Shaking his hand.

Since then, Carlesbad has made the venture over to her local pub on Sunday afternoons to pick up the weekly collection of empty bottles of booze. Upon arrival, George always rises, hushes the crowd in his midst to a silence before he announces that This gal is a Firewalker, and a Glasswalker and we’re helpin’ her!

Smashing Silence

Kate & Carly’s relationship was hot- from the moment they met.

Taking turns pouring water over hot rocks, fanning the steam as it rushed the room, filling their chests– in a sultry sauna.

They grew closer, sitting there, alone together, opening up into a candid conversation about the remnants of rape.

They discussed their hard learned lessons about the meaning of consent. They shared in how physical touch, when performed in such a manner can act as an alarming trigger.        And, of course they discussed at length the particulars of each of their Mothers.

This quickly made bond, moved towards a pact of personal empowerment.

Kate & Carly dedicated themselves to becoming Warriors, through the life affirming, endurance building, spirit re-vitalizing, practice of Forrest Yoga. 

Practicing under the guidance of the gracefully militant,             Master of Edge Play Artistry, Gwen Mihaljevich.

Pulling their shoe strings together they dedicated a semester to the Science of Life, a.k.a. Ayurveda. They got comfy cozy with owning their sexuality through Core Energetics, feeling the breeze along the way, as city cyclists.

Now, these two kung fu ladies are putting together their own spec-tac-ul-ar!         They’ve developed a workshop for feeling into our bodies and, expanding the “reactions” of our nervous systems. Its culmination is a lesson on Paying Attention– with a Glasswalk.

On March 19th at 6pm, you will find them at 937 N. Western.   

This is only the beginning!!

A Perfect Fit

Once upon a time, a dream filled my mind, to walk through life with a willingness to literally shed the clothes from my back. Can you imagine doing that? 

It seemed like a bold tactic for enticing potential audiences to come hither, further. As time pressed onward, the Law of Attraction demonstrated that you can only  fill up an empty cup.

Knowing this has made it much easier for me to give away stuff.

Looking through a fully stuffed closet the realization was made, that it contained, three jackets too many.

Having three (for me) means missing the ONE that’s just right. Goldilocks.

Shortly after, an invitation arrived to step out on the town. And, ThisThor loves to get dressed up & go all out.

It’s true that my velvet dress coat was an eye catching sage green, but the shoulder’s just didn’t quite fit me. Wearing it impeded my upon my desire to move about freely. One bold gesture & it might bust at the seams!

Practicing Listening makes the messages Louder to hear.

So when young Lady named Raven, stepped over to me at the end of the party, gushing excitedly about my coat, my ears perked up quickly.

This was the Perfect Opportunity. 

…

I was ready to relinquish into her possession most definitely, no question.

In her acceptance of this gift, Raven taught me a valuable lesson. She showed me, something that I had been working on: the difficulty with simply accepting!

I mean, c’mon how often is someone actually willing to hand you the coat right off of their back. We’ve been programmed to believe that to Give is better than to Receive. Furthermore, to receive freely could give off the impression that we are greedy. Even if the other person is offering.

To make herself feel better, Raven provided the perfect counter offer! A truly inspiring work of art, that arrived in my life, just in time.

Raven’s methods and aspects of inclusion, are in-line with the very direction that I’ve been considering taking mine.

Because even the best of ideas need motivation for making the leap into reality.

This fills me with glee!! And, to think that I never would have received this priceless gift, had I been greedy, about something that doesn’t even suit me.
