Pro- Tip Common Mistake in Self -Promotion

Thinking your name matters.

All too often signage, postcards & press releases speak of a REALLY great event! And, goes on to name who is behind its awesomeness.

The problem with that is a severe lack of description.

Why? Is Carly Evans worth seeing in person?

If you are new to a subject with interest simply seeing a persons name does not provide enough information to formulate a decision.

How about this:
Show on Saturday! Mimes. Jugglers. Slackers & Fire Spinners!
Carly Evans will charm your pants off as its Conductor.

So many are taking the reigns into their own hands these days. Entrepreneurs.

Ego is an obvious pitfall when all I read are names. No media outlet will accept it.

And, it doesn’t do the job of wrangling in potential prospects.

In conclusion, use adjectives.
Know that what you are doing is much greater in enticing audiences than you are.

Striding Towards Simplicity

This is a post about transition…

Choice. A consumer driven concept. Or, is it?

My newest choice is to life a simple life. Getting there has been complicated.

What is simple?

Simple according to Webster, means presenting no difficulty.

What in your life causes difficulty?

For me, it’s been having too much stuff.
Choice leads to clutter. Over stimulation.

No need to beat yourself up over having stuff. We all do!

What we keep lying around causes enough havoc in our lives…

Simplicity- having the ability to reach multiple outcomes with a single tool.

Like an adjustable wrench.
Or, my favorite brown merino wool top. Sexy, sophisticated & logical for biking around a big city.

Simplicity for me is being able to work leas and accomplish more!

In deciding to keep or can an item ask yourself: Does this suit me? Will this item work with me to bring my best self forward?

Carly here, back with some more exciting news.

Closet Counciltations are officially OPEN for business!

What is a closet counciltation?
It is a process:
We begin by discussing You! Who you are, how you feel, where you are going, etc…

Then, we evaluate your wardrobe. As is. We play dress up. We establish needs. We talk through the process. Every step of the way. Organization flourishes. Maybe we go shopping.

And, nothing is taken away until at least my second visit.

This service is great for everybody!
Men are my preferred clientelle.
Movers really appreciate my help: downsizing.
And, at the end of the day each person I work with comes out feeling better about their own individual identity.

At Carly’s Closet Counciltations our motto is Confidence equals Comfortability.

Going with the flow

Welcome, to Monday!

This morning I relinquished myself from a small business incubation project. Focused on produce.

The project made me question my skills & ability to do “start-up.” Forcing me to think badly about all of the work I’ve put in over the last five years of my professional development.

My ultimate conclusion is that this particular project simply isn’t for me.

So, ladies, gentleman & potential employers everywhere! Who needs a go-getter , project manager with a firm background in people?

Status Report: UpDate

Everybody smokes.

Walking towards the Royal Café today. Where I now sit. Everybody was smoking cigarettes.

The workman outside my front door were chugging down the smokey smokes as I left my house. Drivers in their cars pulling out sticks at stop lights. Men sipping that caffeinated goodness a few tables behind me. Folks just cruisin’ on foot puff away at the stuff. My mother drags on one and I can hear it through the intercom of the telephone.

Today, everybody smokes. Except me.

(yippee!)

** Recently made a move up to the beautiful Rogers Park, in Chicago!!

I am officially in Dreamland.

And, I plan on posting from here regularly.

I am a Structure Constructor, Bridge Builder, Closet Consultor extraordinaire. The stage is finally set for me to move forward. This is a very exciting time!!

(The woman sitting at a table in front of me has appropriately lit up a cigarette in honor of finishing her meal. : )
